Do you suffer from chronic pelvic pain? Pelvic pain is very common for females and often is more aggravating for those who are cycling. It can occur at different times of the month or it can be present all the time. Symptom Management
Frequently, women manage pelvic pain by taking over the counter anti-inflammatory or prescription pain medication just so they can make it through their day. In doing this, they are not actually treating the condition. They are just masking the symptoms. If this is happening on a consistent basis over time the effects of these medications will weight down the body.
I’ve seen so many women in my practice that use symptom management to control their pain because they do not know what else to do. Fortunately, there is another alternative to treat chronic pelvic pain by determining the root cause of where the pain is coming from.
Pain & Inflammation
Pain always has a component of inflammation. Typically, the inflammation doesn’t just come from where the pain is felt. It comes from deeper inside the body. Believe it or not, inflammation can be controlled and regulated by the gut. If we aren’t managing our diet and are eating foods that trigger inflammation or if we are under chronic stress this can cause our system to become out of balance which results in pain.
Have you had chronic pelvic pain for a long time or has it has evolved in different ways? If so, it is important to dig deep to determine the root cause. When the pain isn’t managed, the body will continue to signal pain. It will continue to manage pain in a way that is not optimal for other systems within the body. All of this can create other conditions such as fatty liver from using too many anti-inflammatory medicines, or autoimmunity due to unregulated inflammation.
