Let’s discuss a very common issue among women in the perimenopause and menopause…low libido. If you are suffering from this it’s probably affecting several aspects of your life. And, it could also be a signal an imbalance in your body that could lead to health issues down the road if left untreated.
If you’re wondering where low libido comes from and why it shows up in perimenopause, you’re not alone. Many people assume that it’s a result of fluctuating and shifting hormones. However, I would say this isn’t necessarily a natural and normal consequence of aging for women.
One of the main systems that contribute to an imbalance in our bodies is our gut and our immune system. Quite commonly if our gut and immune systems are out of balance there’s some inflammation in the gut. This could come from different foods that we’re eating. It could be coming from the stress that’s actually not aligned as to digest and absorb our nutrients correctly.
When I work with women and we discover the root cause of where their low libido is coming from, not only do we correct the symptom of low libido, but we correct the other systems within their body. We evaluate the gut and immune systems which can cause bigger health concerns in the future if left untreated. For instance, if your immune system is unbalanced and unregulated, potentially you could be at risk for other chronic conditions or even diseases such as cancer. Therefore, you must work with someone who is experienced in this issue and can help you uncover what is happening within your body.
