If you have been diagnosed with autoimmunity, you are probably undergoing some type of treatment.  It might involve management strategies with medications, supplements, and vitamins. In addition to this, perhaps you’ve made some dietary and lifestyle changes.

The question is…are you feeling better?

If you are just managing your symptoms or they are getting worse, you are probably noticing many aspects of your life are affected. Things like your:

  • Relationships
  • Intimacy with your partner
  • Mood
  • Performance at work

Quite commonly unless the root cause of your autoimmunity has been discovered often people are just treating the symptoms of their condition. That autoimmune condition isn’t going into remission. In fact, sometimes once you have one diagnosis you are at risk for having more.

I see this all the time in my practice. I see a lot of frustration because people are working on their health. They’re trying to get themselves feeling better, but they find that they’re at best just managing their symptoms. They keep changing treatment plans in search of a solution.

So what is the solution?

The solution really only comes from determining the root cause of the autoimmunity. Where did it come from in the first place? It could have started when you were a child or even when you were in the womb. It could even be dependent on your mother’s health, believe it or not. Tracing back where the symptoms began is really important. Then, you can figure out the triggers or aggravating factors. Some triggers you might be aware of, but there may be some that you are completely unaware of.

Once you’ve determined the triggers and have eliminated them, working with a practitioner that understands what lab testing to do and what systems to really start treating to get them working properly again. The truth is, if you don’t actually learn how to fix your autoimmune issue, you are at much greater risk for not only developing more autoimmune conditions but potentially other even more serious conditions down the road. You could even be at a higher risk for certain immune conditions develop such as cancer.
